Sports massage
Sports massage is a specific form of massage, which can be used before, during and after sports events using deep tissue massage combined with Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) techniques. Sports massage aims to improve performance through injury-free training and to speed recovery.
The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to help reduce the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissue during exercise. Massage can quickly and effectively repair the minor injuries which often occur due to overuse.
Who benefits from sports massage treatments?
People who;
- are training for a marathon?
- are training for triathlon?
- are training for events such as cycling, mountain biking, motocross?
- are training in the gym?
- are playing any sports such as soccer, tennis, rugby?
- want to speed recovery?
- want injury-free training?
- want to keep their muscles healthy?
- want to enjoy their training?
What should I expect during sports massage treatment?
After completing a confidential Client History Form, your session will start with a brief discussion of your condition and relevant sports activity.
Each type of sport has different demands on its participants. Each sport uses different muscle groups in different ways. Therefore, your treatment is designed concerning your specific problem or goals.
After discussing your future therapy, the treatment will begin.
When should I have treatment?
We strongly recommend a regular treatment once a week, fortnightly, or even once a month to keep your muscles in best condition for best performance.
However, if you cannot have regular treatments, another option is having more frequent treatments in the month before your event and preferably after the event to aid recovery.
